The Governor of Bali Wayan Koster again showed his commitment and partiality towards the protection and improvement of the quality of local Balinese workers. Since the beginning the employment sector has been one of its priorities in various programs as a supporter of the vision of “ Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali” towards the New Era of Bali.

This was revealed when Governor Koster received the hearing Confederation of All Indonesian Trade Unions (K-SPSI) of the Province of Bali in Bali Governor's Office, Renon, Denpasar on Tuesday morning  ( May 28, 2019)

"I prioritize building a system, from upstream to downstream, as a whole and not partially for this labor sector," Koster said.

The program and policy, according to Governor Koster, is stated in the Governor's Regulation or Governor Regulation that is being drafted. The Governor regulation, in the future will be the guideline of the labor sector, specifically to support and protect local Balinese labor.

"Everything will be addressed and organized, starting from the recruitment system, increasing competency and competitiveness and managerial capabilities," Koster said.

The Chairman of the DPD  PDI Perjuangan Bali also said that in the future this increase in competitiveness must be taken into account so that local workers are able to compete with outside workers who come to Bali.

"Skills  must continue to be improved, there must be training (Education and Training, red) that collaborates with universities to create a workforce that is ready and competent," he added.

Koster also highlighted the problem of working hours and the obligation to participate in traditional activities that are still very thick in Bali.

"We will map the ideal minimum employee work per week. So if there are customary activities, it can be compensated on another day. "It does not reduce working hours and the performance associated with the company," Koster explained.

He also opened himself up for input from associations and unions to perfect the regulations being worked on.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the K-SPSI DPD Bali Made Madra conveyed various inputs related to the labor sector in Bali. One of them is related to contract workers and outsourcing to get more appropriate recognition.

"Hopefully there are policies that can fight for this," he hoped.

On the other hand, Madra who is involved in the tourism business admitted that she highly appreciated the various breakthroughs of the Bali Provincial Government. One of them is related to the limitation of the use of disposable plastic waste, which he calls very influential on the 'face' of Bali tourism in general.

"I monitored this policy myself in the field which greatly affected cleanliness in tourist areas. The beach is cleaner and more comfortable for tourists, "he explained. (Balitopnews.com / Amo Bali )
