Empowering People's Economy, Governor Koster Asks BPD to Encourage MSMEs Empowerment

The Governor Bali Wayan Koster gave a speech while opening the National Seminar on the Role of Regional Development Banks (BPD) throughout Indonesia in Encouraging the Regional Economy through Empowering MSMEs at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Sanur, Denpasar, on Friday (August 23, 2019).
In his remarks Governor Koster asked the seminar participants consisting of BPD directors and commissioners throughout Indonesia to discuss concrete matters to advance BPD.
Bali Governor Wayan Koster expressed his appreciation because in the opening of this national seminar the participants used a typical Balinese destar. "It means that it has had an impact on the people who produce these udeng (Balinese hat ) crafters," he said.
The former member of the Indonesian House of Representatives said that through the policy on the use of Balinese traditional clothing, which he had determined, had an impact on the Balinese traditional clothing industry.
He said since the regulation was enacted the crafters' turnover increased to 30 percent and merchant turnover grew 35 percent. "And that is (people's economy). MSMEs grow in traditional Balinese clothing. Whereas the initial goal was to increase pride, love of Balinese fashion identity as part of culture. It turns out that from an economic standpoint it benefits, "said the Chairman of the DPD PDIP Bali Province.
He said one of the strategic functions carried out by BPD was to encourage and empower the strength of MSMEs in their respective regions.
In addition to 150 Indonesian Regional Commissioners and Directors, this activity was also attended by the Director General of Regional Financial Development of the Ministry of Home Affairs Drs Syarifudin MM, Coordinator of the Supervisory of Western Regional Financial Services Institutions Lukdir Gultom and the Chairman of the Association of Regional Banks (Asbanda) Dr. Supriyatno and other financial officials.
