Bali Provincial Government is moving fast by providing assistance in the form of facilitating nursing homes to the elderly who are less able. This time it is located at Sekar Tunjung, Denpasar where the elderly couple I Wayan Keten (66) and Marniah (63) must be willing to live in a small hut on a ground.

In the walled hut and roofed with asbestos, Keten could only lie down with only a thin mosquito net protected. While the building occupied by it, was built with makeshift wood and could collapse at any time. Even more sad, because of the pain that Keten is suffering from, he cannot walk, let alone to just make a living. Accompanied by his wife, he must spend the day lying in bed while waiting for help from relatives and caring people.

Responding to this, the Provincial Government of Bali through the Social Service moved quickly to provide assistance in the form of facilitation so that this elderly couple could be immediately transferred to a nursing home facility. The facilitation was delivered by Mrs Tjokorda Putri Haryani Sukawati who was also the Chairperson of the Bali Provincial Social Welfare Activities Coordinating Board (BKKKS). She visited the location of the couple I Wayan Keten-Marniah residence. "By being facilitated to be moved to a nursing home, Mr. and Mrs. Keten can get better and better facilities. His health will also be monitored periodically, so that it is more secure, " Mrs. Putri Haryani explained.

Meanwhile, Head of Bali Provincial Social service I Dewa Gede Mahendra Putra said that facilitation to the nursing home is an obligation of the provincial government considering the situation in question is very much needed help. "The conditions of the residence in question are very improper and must be immediately addressed. For this reason, we will immediately move to a nursing home for Werdha Syailendra, (Jimbaran, Badung Regency) to be handled more optimally. His health will also be handled more intensively, "Dewa Mahendra explained. This is in line with  Local Regulation No. 11 of 2018 concerning the welfare of the elderly, which shows the commitment of the local government to the welfare of the elderly, both in terms of regional budget allocations and in charge of implementing policies at the regional level.

He also admitted that he would not open the door for families who wanted to visit even if they would pick them up later if it was considered economically possible. "What is clear is that in addition to health and a decent place to live, the person concerned will get a variety of positive activities to fill his old age, not being alone anymore," he said.

The group also visited the Metta Mama and Maggha Foundations on  Gunung Lawu street , Pemecutan Kelod, West Denpasar. The non-profit foundation has a noble goal of accommodating and caring for abandoned and abandoned babies. (Balitopnews.com/MD/Hms)
