Bali Governor Regulation number 80 of 2018 concerning the protection and use of Balinese language, script and literature as well as the holding of the Balinese language month has gone through a process of facilitation, verification and approval by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, so that it can be enacted on September 26, 2018.

This was revealed by the Head of the Bali Province Regional Secretariat of Public Relations and Protocol A A Ngr. Oka Sutha Diana, Sunday (December 1, 2019).

"The enactment of Bali Governor Regulation number 80 of 2018 concerning the protection and use of Balinese language, script and literature as well as the holding of the Balinese language month is a serious commitment in glorifying the Balinese script so that it has received positive response from all government institutions, educational institutions, private institutions and the wider community, " AA Ngr Oka Sutha Diana Explained.

He explained, in Bali Governor Regulation number 80 of 2018, the position of Balinese script in writing office name signs, roads, tourism facilities and other public facilities above names written in Latin letters. "Writing Balinese script above Latin letters is glorifying Balinese characters," he said. The use of Balinese script is a form of strengthening the cultural identity of the region as an integral part of the national cultural wealth within the ideology of Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, NKRI and Bhinneka Tungal Ika. Karohumas further explained that Law number 23 of 2014 concerning regional government article 236 paragraph (4) gave the authority of regional heads to draw up regional regulations that contained local content.

He added, according to Bali Governor Regulation number 80 of 2018 in writing office signs, roads, buildings, tourism facilities and other public facilities written in Balinese script, they still use Indonesian. "The transfer of Latin letters to the Balinese script still follows the Indonesian pronunciation principles. Even in the regulations on the use of Balinese script in the writing of office signs, roads, buildings, tourism facilities and other public facilities, it is determined by black writing and red and white gradation background,"He said. Pergub number 80 of 2018 has fulfilled the requirements and the process of determining regional legal products as regulated in law number 12 of 2011 concerning the formation of laws and regulations. "Pergub number 80 of 2018 also does not contradict law number 24 of 2009 concerning the country's flag, language and symbol as well as the national anthem." Because this law regulates the use of language rather than regulating the use of scripts, "he stressed.

Based on this explanation, the entire Balinese community must implement the Governor Regulation number 80 of 2018 regarding the protection and use of Balinese language, script and literature as well as the implementation of the Balinese language month well, full of enthusiasm, and full of pride in order to realize the vision of "Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali ".
