Vice Governor of Bali Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati (Cok Ace) attended the opening of the 12th Bali Democracy Frum 2019 at BNDCC, Nusa Dua, Thursday (5 December 2019)
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Retno Marsudi in her remarks before opening the 12th Bali Democracy Forum (BDF) stressed the importance of maintaining a democratic system for peace. The success of democracy is judged by the extent to which everyone has the opportunity to contribute to the democratic process; and the extent to which their equal access to benefits from the fruits of democracy. The welfare and care of every member of the community, especially the underprivileged, marginalized, and excluded, needs to be considered. Inclusive democracy must necessarily develop into inclusive development; development is not taken narrowly only as economic progress but also ensures economic and social justice for every part of the population.
"BDF-12 this time there is something different, there are more discussion panels to discuss democracy from various views. Not only from the media, business people, but also will involve the views of millennials, " She said.
The 12th BDF was joined by 90 countries and seven international organizations with the theme "Democracy and Inclusivity" with the sub-themes "Women, Inclusivity, and the State of Democracy".
BDF 2019, which was held from December 5 and 6, 2019, in addition to the Ministerial Forum, also held four focus group dialogues with specific themes involving various BDF participant groups including dialogue on the Role of the State and Policy with the theme "Moving towards an inclusive state development" , Activity of the 2019 Bali Civil Society and Media Forum with the theme "Increasing exclusivity and Decreasing Democracy", the 2019 Bali Youth Conference Activity with the theme "Youth and inclusive digital democracy" and Dialogue on Business and Economic Focus with the theme "Inclusive Economy".
