DENPASAR, Balitopnews.com - As a literary activist, especially poetry, Putri Suastini Koster wants to make Bali the epicenter of literary development. Supported by a number of literary activists such as the Head of the Buleleng Art Pier, Gde Artawan, Dewa Putu Sahadewa and Wayan Jengki Sunarta, the wife of Bali Governor Wayan Koster, have initiated a poetry creation competition for teachers throughout Indonesia.
Coupled with the virtual poetry book 'Voice of the Heart of Teachers' in Indonesia 2020' launching event, prizes were also given to winners of Indonesian teacher poetry writing competitions which were held virtually from Denpasar, Wednesday, October 28, 2020.
Putri Koster said that the idea to hold a competition for teachers originated from casual conversations with a number of artists. In addition, holding a national competition also started from seeing the enthusiasm of the previously held competitions in Bali.
"This is a small step but we do it with sincere love. We want to provide a forum for teachers who have the talent to write poetry to channel their hobbies, "she said.
This woman who is passionate about advancing the art of literature believes that poetry is an art that can hone a sense of sensitivity and provide inner happiness to those who practice it.
The implementation of teacher poetry writing competitions throughout Indonesia is an important part of the effort to advance literary arts. According to her, literary activists should be proud because the Bali Provincial Government under the leadership Governor of Bali Wayan Koster has not only provided a platform for the development of traditional arts, but also modern and contemporary arts through the organizing of the Bali Jani Arts Festival program.
Putri Koster said that the festival gave fresh air to literary arts, especially poetry. "I want our literary arts to grow worldwide. We should not be proud to be invited abroad, on the contrary we are proud if everything is in Bali, including classy literary performances that attract world literary activists to come to the Island of the Gods, "she said.
After successfully holding teacher poetry writing competitions in Bali and teacher poetry writing competitions in Indonesia, his party will initiate a similar competition for high school and university students in 2021, to be precise on National Awakening Day, and of course with a nationalist theme.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Buleleng Art Pier, Gde Artawan, expressed his appreciation and gratitude for Putri Koster's attention to the development of literary arts, especially poetry. “At first we thought that her spirit would fade after becoming the governor's mother. But unexpectedly, he became increasingly healthy in the world of literature, "he said.
Artawan said the poetry creation competition received tremendous response from the teachers. The competition was followed by 618 teachers from all over Indonesia who entered as many as 1,261 poems. To maintain objectivity, the judges only received the title and content of the poetry to be judged, so that 10 winners and 90 nominations were obtained, then the 100 poems were included in the poetry book 'Suara Hati Guru'.
On this occasion, in addition to symbolic giving of prizes, the nominees also read poetry, either directly or virtually. (Gix)
