Governor of Bali Wayan Koster Receives First Injection of Covid-19 Vaccine in the Island of Bali

DENPASAR, Balitopnews.com -  Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster received the first injection of the Covid-19 vaccine in Bali Province, Thursday (January 14, 2021) at Bali Mandara Hospital (RSBM), Sanur Kauh, Denpasar City.

Vaccine injection in the left arm of the number one person in the Bali Provincial Government, was carried out by dr. Putu Gede Surya Wibawa, M.Biomed, Sp.PD who is one of the internal medicine doctors at RSBM.

The first injection of Governor Koster with the Covid-19 Vaccine sent by Biofarma Bandung marked the official vaccination program in Bali Province, after previously on Wednesday (January 13, 2021) Indonesian President Joko Widodo became the first person in Indonesia to receive a Covid-19 vaccine injection made by a Chinese company, Sinovac, at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta.

 

"Mr. President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo has provided a direct example and role model for the Indonesian people, including us in Bali Province, so I believe this vaccine can be applied together in order to accelerate the handling of Covid-19. For that, I welcome this vaccine activity which carried out by the Bali Provincial Health Office, and I would also like to thank the Central Government for giving serious attention to the island of Bali in order to provide the Covid-19 vaccine, "Governor Koster said when giving his opening remarks on the official implementation of the Covid-19 vaccine in Bali Province, while following the vaccination stages with registration, health screening, Covid-19 vaccine injection, and finally entering the observation room for 30 minutes.

 

After entering the observation room for 30 minutes with 15 other officials, such as the Bali Police Chief, Inspector General Pol Putu Jayan Danu Putra, Kasdam IX Udayana, Brigadier General Candra Wijaya, the Bali Prosecutor's Office, Erbagyo Rohan, SH, MH, Head of BPK RI for the Bali Region, DR. Drs. Sri Haryono, DPD-RI Bali Representative, Bambang Suseno, Head of BPOM Bali, DRA. Ni G.A.N Suarningsih, Secretary of Bali, Dewa Made Indra, Head of BPBD Bali, Drs. I Made Rentin, M.Si, Kakesdam IX / Udayana, I Made Mardika, Head of BPKP Bali, Muhammad Masykur, Chairman of PHDI Bali, Prof. Dr. Drs. I Gusti Ngurah Sudiana., M.Si, Deputy of BPJS, Beno Herman, Director of Sanglah Hospital, dr. I Wayan Sudana, M.Kes, and DPW PPNI Bali, I Gusti Ngurah Ketut Sukadarma, furthermore, the Governor of Bali who graduates of ITB prayed that this vaccine activity would run smoothly, in accordance with applicable procedures.

 

The former member of the Indonesia House of Representatives  3 Period from the PDI-P Faction also emphasized that Bali is a priority in handling Covid-19, because Bali is a world tourism destination. For this reason, the Central Government has prepared a sufficiently large portion of the vaccine for Bali with high hopes that the Covid-19 Pandemic will end, and we can again make efforts to accelerate economic improvement in Bali Province.

 

"We see that all Bali tourism and the economy of Bali have been severely hit by this pandemic, so we pray that this pandemic ends, vaccine activities run smoothly, our people are healthy, and we can all return to accelerate efforts to improve the economy in Bali Province," he said. Governor Koster who also serves as Chairman of the DPD PDIP Bali Province. 

 

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bali Provincial Health Office, dr. Ketut Suarjaya reported that the purpose of the Covid-19 vaccination was to establish group immunity, reduce morbidity and mortality from Covid-19, protect and strengthen health systems, and maintain productivity and minimize social and economic impacts.

 

"In this vaccination, we will also target the provision of vaccines, which totaled 2,999,400, in which details will be given to Health and Health Support Workers, including 30,320 Tracing Workers, then given to Public Servants such as TNI, POLRI, Satpol PP, Teachers, up to 263,389 Law Officers, continued to be given to Vulnerable Communities (geo-spatial, socio-economic, ed) as many as 1,290,243, and given to Communities and Economic Actors totaling 854,756, and those who did not miss this vaccine also targeted Vulnerable Communities (Elderly , red) which amounted to 560,782, " dr Ketut Suarjaya explained the stated that for the initial target, this vaccine would be given to people aged 18-59 years, and then 60 years of age.

 

In closing, dr. Ketut Suarjaya emphasized that after the implementation of this vaccination activity in Bali Province, we need to convey that the Health Workers in Badung Regency, Gianyar Regency, and Denpasar City will first get the Covid-19 vaccine.

 

"Regarding the number, there are 5,533 Health Workers in Badung Regency who are ready to undergo the vaccine, followed by Health Workers in Gianyar Regency reaching 4,231, then Denpasar City as many as 12,032 Health Workers who are ready to undergo the vaccine," he concluded. (Gix)
