This was conveyed by the Vice  Governor of Bali Tjok. Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati during the commemoration of National Press Day, at Wantilan Kerta Sabha, Denpasar, Tuesday (February 9, 2021).

 

Through the commemoration of National Press Day in 2021, the Vice Governor of Bali hopes that the press will be able to carry out their duties in carrying out the expectations of the community, by sticking to the principles of independence and upholding the values ​​of the press in accordance with the Press Law Number 40 of 1999.



 

With the theme "Awakening from the Pandemic, Bali is the Tourism Gateway for the Recovery of the National Economy, the Press as the Accelerator of Change," also takes on a more role as an accelerator of change, so that culture-based Balinese tourism continues to grow and develop in accordance with the vision of the Bali Provincial Government, namely Nangun Sat. Kerthi Loka Bali through the universal development pattern plans towards a new era of Bali which contains the meaning of "Maintaining the Sanctity and Harmony of Bali Nature and Its Contents, to Create a Prosperous and Happy Life of Balinese Krama and Gumi, Sekala-Niskala in accordance with Bung Karno's Trisakti Principles: Politically Sovereign. , Economically Independent, and Cultural Personality through Development in a Patterned, Comprehensive, Planned, Targeted, and Integrated manner within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia based on the Pancasila Values ​​on June 1, 1945.

 

The National Press Day 2021 commemoration in Bali Province should be used as a momentum for the synergy of the Government and the Press to provide good and correct information services to the public, so that they are able to convey good information with the development progress that has been implemented by the Bali Provincial Government, as well as the press is also expected to participate oversee the implementation so that development objectives can be carried out more quickly and in accordance with community needs.


 

Chairman of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) of Bali Province IGMB Dwikora Putra said that freedom of the press in presenting information should still refer to data and facts in the field, so that it will not cause things that cause clashes between one party and another.

 

The ecosystem and press industry must operate in a healthy and protected manner so that people can continue to receive quality information. A healthy society is a society that gets good and quality information.

 

To convey good information, of course, also requires competent journalism and a good ecosystem. In addition, during a pandemic like today, it is also necessary to have a press with a clear perspective to stand in the front against information confusion, the spread of hoaxes and hate speech that threatens democratic life.

 

This activity was also attended by the Bali Police Chief, Expert Staff of the Regional Military Commander IX / Udayana, Head of Information from the Military District Command 163 / Wirasatya, Members of PWI Bali, Head of the Bali Province Communication and Information Agency.
