Governor of Bali Wayan Koster :  Use Endek Every Tuesday in All Activities

DENPASAR, Balitopnews.com - Bali Governor Wayan Koster again issued a new policy, namely the Use of Clothing / Clothing Made from Balinese Endek Woven / Traditional Balinese Woven Fabrics on Thursday (Wraspati Pon, Landep),  February 11, 2021, at Jayasabha Denpasar.

 

Previously, Governor Koster also succeeded in fighting for the Endek Bali Weaving Fabric to obtain a Communal Intellectual Property Certificate for Traditional Cultural Expressions from the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights, and collaborated with Christian Dior Model House in using Endek Bali Weaving Fabric.

 

According to Koster, this new policy is the consistency of taking sides with the local cultural products of the Balinese people, from Small and Medium Industries (IKM) and Balinese SMEs, namely the policy set forth in Circular Letter Number 04 of 2021 concerning the Use of Balinese Endek Weaving / Balinese Traditional Weaving Fabrics. , which was signed on Thursday (Wraspati Wage, Watugunung),  January 28 , 2021.

 

The new policy is based on considerations covering 5 things, namely:

Endek Balinese Woven Fabric / Traditional Balinese Woven Fabric is a creative cultural heritage of Balinese people that must be preserved and protected, as well as used and empowered as the identity of Balinese people with character and integrity in accordance with the Vision of Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali through the Plan of Universal Development Planning towards the New Era of Bali. 


 

Endek Bali woven fabrics have been listed as Communal Intellectual Property for Traditional Cultural Expressions with Inventory Number EBT.12.2020.0000085 by the Directorate General of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, December 22, 2020.

 

There have appeared patterned cloth products such as endek which are not Balinese handicrafts and are not based on the local Balinese creative culture, which threatens the existence of Balinese Endek Weaving / Balinese Traditional Weaving Cloth.

 

Endek Balinese woven fabrics / Balinese traditional woven fabrics need to be used and empowered economically in order to improve the welfare of the Balinese people, and the Government and Balinese people must take sides and be committed to local resources by taking an active role in preserving, protecting, and empowering the Endek Bali woven fabric / Balinese Traditional Woven Fabric.

 

The new policy is a direct implementation of 3 Regulations, namely:

Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 5 of 2017 concerning the Advancement of Culture;

Bali Provincial Regulation Number 4 of 2020 concerning the Strengthening and Advancement of Balinese Culture;

Governor of Bali Regulation Number 79 of 2018 concerning the Day for Use of Balinese Traditional Clothing; and

Bali Governor Regulation Number 99 of 2018 concerning Marketing and Utilization of Balinese Agricultural, Fishery and Industrial Products.

 

The Governor of Bali appealed to Heads of Vertical Institutions, Heads of Higher Education, Regents / Mayors, Heads of Regional Apparatus, Heads of BUMN and BUMD, Heads of Private Companies, and Heads of Organizations / Social Institutions throughout Bali to respect and appreciate Balinese Endek Woven / Traditional Woven Fabric Bali as a creative cultural heritage of Balinese people,

wearing clothes / clothing made from Balinese Endek Woven Fabric / Balinese Traditional Woven Fabric in various activities on every Tuesday, Clothing / clothing made from Balinese Endek Woven Fabric / Balinese Traditional Woven Fabric, must be a local product of the Balinese people.

 

The use of clothes / clothing made from Balinese Endek Woven Fabric / Balinese Traditional Woven Fabric on every Tuesday, is not limited or does not have to be uniform with certain motifs.

 

The use of clothes / clothing made from Balinese Endek Woven Fabric / Balinese Traditional Woven Fabric on Tuesday is excluded if it coincides with Purnama, Tilem, and the Anniversary of the Regional Government.

 

Actively promoting and marketing Balinese Endek Woven Fabric / Balinese Traditional Woven Fabric in various local, national and international activities, in order to improve the economy and welfare of the Balinese people; and

Encouraging and facilitating creative and innovative efforts in the development of Balinese Small and Medium Industries (IKM) to meet the needs of Balinese Endek Woven / Traditional Balinese Woven Fabrics.

 

The use of clothes / clothing made from Balinese Endek woven fabrics / Balinese traditional woven fabrics, as well as an appreciation of the collaboration between the Provincial Government of Bali and the Christian Dior Fashion House in Paris, a world-class company in using Balinese Endek Woven fabrics as clothing, including the use of Balinese Endek Fabric motifs for bags and shoes by 2021.

 

"This very important and strategic collaboration was signed on January 8, 2021, this is the first time this has happened, therefore it is fitting for all of us Krama Bali to be happy, hopefully this collaboration will become a momentum and pave a good path in promoting the richness and uniqueness of the local cultural products of the community. Bali is creative and innovative, " Koster said.

 

This circular comes into effect on Tuesday (Anggara Kliwon, Kulantir), February 23, 2021, which is marked by wearing new clothes / clothing made from Balinese Endek Weaving / Balinese Traditional Weaving Fabrics, which can be implemented using local IKM products of each Regency /City.(gix)
