JAKARTA, Balitopnews.com - The Bali Provincial Government has once again won an award for organizing Sectoral Statistics 2024, Anindhita Wistara Data, with the title 'Good' from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) at the 2024 National Statistics Day Award event at the Grand Mercure Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday (September 26, 2024)

The award was handed over directly by the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, accompanied by the Deputy Chair of Commission XI DPR RI, Amir Uskara, and Acting Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti. Present representing Acting Governor Mahendra Jaya, Head of the Bali Province Communication, Information and Statistics Service, Gede Pramana.

Anindhita Wistara Data is an award given by BPS to government institutions or organizations that are considered successful in utilizing statistical data effectively. Nationally, Bali is in second place for the Best Work Unit in the Provincial Government Category in the Sectoral Statistics Implementation Evaluation Program (EPSS), after DKI Jakarta, and above DIY Yogyakarta which is in third place.

Meanwhile, the best positions at district level were achieved by Bantul Regency, Sumedang Regency and Tangerang Regency, and the best positions at city level were achieved by Magelang City, Malang City and Tangerang City. Judging from the Statistical Development Index (IPS), Bali Province reached 3.37 points or increased from the previous year which reached 3.11. "So in index terms, Bali has increased in value from last year," Gede Pramana said.

According to Pramana, the assessment is carried out systematically through information verification and validation. This aims to measure the maturity of implementing sectoral statistics in local government. "This award is the result of the hard work of all parties and stakeholders, including collaboration with BPS Bali Province," he added.

The series of commemorations for National Statistics Day (HSN) 2024 carries the theme "Quality Statistics for a Golden Indonesia". In this event, several other awards were also presented, including the university providing the best statistics corner, exemplary statistics agency, and the BPS Award for partners, media, and companies/associations as data users.

Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian explained that policies must be based on theory and data, because policies without strong theoretical support will only rely on luck. "Statistics plays an important role in policy making. The theory underlying policy must go through a process of data collection and analysis, so that statistics becomes the main tool," he said. The Minister of Home Affairs gave an example of his experience in dealing with inflation, where President Jokowi proposed a new data-based approach from BPS, similar to handling the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, this approach, together with the support of BPS data, plays a major role in maintaining the stability of Indonesia's inflation, which is currently maintained at 2.1 percent, one of the lowest in the world. "Intervention from various ministries/institutions, such as the Logistics Agency (Bulog), Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Trade, plays a very important role in controlling inflation in the regions," he said .

Meanwhile, The Acting Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, stated that providing quality statistical data was the focus of BPS regarding the HSN warning. "Quality statistical data has a key and important role in achieving the big goals of the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision," he said. Therefore, he emphasized the important role of central and regional governments, the private sector, academics and the general public. "Collaboration of all actors in the national statistical system is important to strengthen various key aspects," said Amalia. These aspects include organizing statistics, optimizing data sources, utilizing data, and increasing statistical literacy. According to him, the law emphasizes the importance of statistics as an instrument in planning, implementing and evaluating national development. (Rls/Btnc)
