DENPASAR, Balitopnews.com - The Governor of Bali Wayan Koster, directly reviewed Bali International Hospital (BIH) on Monday (June 9, 2025) as part of the Bali Provincial Government's commitment to supporting the development of international standard health services on the Island of the Gods.

This visit aims to ensure the readiness of the facilities, medical personnel, and services of the hospital located in the Sanur area ahead of its official opening. During the review, Governor Koster was accompanied by the Head of the Bali Provincial Health Office, the Chairperson of the Bali Tourism Board, and the hospital management. "Bali International Hospital is expected to become an international referral hospital, not only for the people of Bali and Indonesia, but also for foreign tourists. This is part of Bali's holistic development, especially in the health and tourism sectors based on world-class services," Governor Koster said to the media crew.

"From this visit, and from what the management said, what makes me proud is that 70% of the human resources are local people, the rest are foreigners, and this is important for the exchange of knowledge, which is very important for improving the quality of our human resources," he added. 

Furthermore, the Governor also emphasized the importance of synergy between local governments and hospital managers in maintaining service quality, as well as the need to side with local communities so that they can access health services fairly and affordably.

During the visit, the Governor took the time to see firsthand the superior facilities such as inpatient rooms, polyclinics, executive health screening, radiation oncology icon cancer center, emergency unit, and several other rooms that have been equipped with the latest technology. The presence of BIH Hospital is the result of strategic cooperation between BUMN and the global private sector, including Swire Group, through Swire Investment Indonesia. On the same occasion, Ainsley Mann, as the Representative of Swire Investment Indonesia, conveyed the company's commitment to support the development of premium health services that are integrated with Bali's sustainable development vision. "We are honored to be able to partner in this very important project. Bali International Hospital is a major step in presenting world-class health services in Bali and Southeast Asia. Swire is committed to bringing the experience and international standards that we have built in various countries," Ainsley Mann said.

The management of BIH Hospital, Dr. Widi Hartono, who serves as Deputy Medical Director of BIH, expressed his appreciation for the full support from the Bali Provincial Government from the planning stage to the construction stage. BIH Hospital also emphasized its commitment to implementing international standard-based services and integration with the national health system. He revealed that since it began limited operations, the hospital has received patient visits from 58 countries, including Australia as the largest country, with more than 1,500 patients served. Interestingly, around 70% of the BIH Hospital workforce are local Balinese and Indonesian sons and daughters, who have received training according to international standards.

BIH Hospital Management also highlighted five leading services that are the main strengths of this hospital. First, Heart Service (Cardiovascular) - in collaboration with a leading cardiology center from Japan. Second, Cancer Service (Oncology) - developed with clinical partners from Australia. Third, Gastroenterology Service - comprehensively handling various digestive and liver problems. Fourth, Neurology Service - for handling nerve and brain disorders with the latest imaging technology. Fifth, Orthopedic & Bone Service - includes bone, joint surgery, and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. With international collaboration and competent local human resources, BIH Hospital is ready to play a role as a regional referral center and support improving the quality of national health services.
