Little Koster, Ever Be Labor for School Fee

The candidate governor of Bali, I Wayan Koster tell stories about his life journey from a small, poor, bitter  and full of suffering to become a candidate governor of Bali. Without hesitation he recounted his childhood in front of the hundreds of residents in Banjar Tag Tag,  Peguyangan Custom Village, Denpasar on Sunday, March 4, 2018

"My house is made by woven bamboo, and there are no old stoves,” Koster explained. Because living in the midst of poverty, every day little Koster only consume tubers as food. The suckling pig is very special menu for him. "I eat the tubers, eat suckling  pigs when someone makes a ceremony, eating rice like a dream for me. That's why  my stature small like this. I Say malnutrition,"  Koster said.

Koster was forced to be a transport worker in his village when he were grade four in elementary school. It was done to increase his pocket money. The money from work is entrusted to his parents. The money was used to finance all his educational needs at that time. If there is a leftover, the mother will buy her a suit. It was purchased every Galungan day. That's why Koster always loves all things given by his parents. In fact, the clothes that his mother bought was not directly charged. He saved first and used if there is a particular event. "My 4th grade element is mekuli (working) so sand transport workers are also transporting bricks, I have roads for three kilometers," Koster said.

Little Koster is aware if education is the only way to change destiny. He studied so hard. That's why since elementary school he has always been a class star. "Although poor,  I become a champion," he said. Little koster almost dropped out of school. Luckily there are parties who helped him continue his education once he graduated from elementary school. "After graduating from elementary school there is a helping me to go to junior high school. So also graduated from junior high school I also have help to enter high school," Koster added.

At junior level, Koster is one generation with Gede Prama in Bhaktiyasa. Gede Prama ( The famous Balinese motivator figure). Koster and Gede Prama become competitor in the class. Sometimes Koster got the first winner in the class , But on the other occasion Gede Prama got the first winner. Togetherness Koster and Gede Prama continues to high school level. It's just that, Gede Prama majoring in social studies, while Koster took a major in science.

"Once I graduated from high school I entered ITB in 1981. I was desperate for college, I was ready while working to pay for college," he explained. In 1987, young Koster graduated from S1 ITB. He was later accepted as an honorary employee in the Department of Education and Culture as a researcher. "In 1987 I received an honorarium of Rp 60,000 per month, I am a teacher of mathematics, I am very happy with mathematics, from my teaching fee I get extra Rp70 thousand.I have more to send to the village for my parents and my younger brothers ," Koster explained.

Koster also began to get used to writing. Until one day the manuscript was accepted by the publisher to be printed into a book. "Because I do not have the money I think hard to find additional, but from there I then became happy to write a book and I was trading as well, Despite his good fortune, Koster regretted not being able to do much for his four siblings who could not afford a higher education like him. From there Koster too serious when talking education, especially in the House of Representatives. "My four younger siblings are no one to help like me, my parents do not have any fees for my four siblings," Koster said. RRBNC
