The Government of Bali Province under the leadership of Governor Wayan Koster continues to push for the massive movement to fight the generation of disposable plastic waste which poses a serious threat to the environment. In order for the results to be more significant, he wanted the rehearsal movement of plastic waste to be arranged in the the Balinese Customary Village regulation.

The hope was expressed by Governor Koster in his remarks read by the Secretary of Bali Province Dewa Indra in the Movement of Bali Planning to Recycle Plastic Waste which was centered at Pancasari Market, Sukasada District, Buleleng Regency, Sunday (May 19, 2019)

According to Governor Koster, he is very serious in efforts to handle plastic waste that has long been a global issue. This movement is a good first step to free Bali from the contamination of disposable plastic waste such as plastic bags, plastic straws and styrofoam.

But he realized, the government's efforts would not produce optimal results without the support of all components of society, especially the customary Village which has the power to bind indigenous customs. Therefore, he hopes that this rehearsal movement of plastic waste will be followed up by incorporating a waste management program in the Awig-awig / pararem of the Balinese Customary Village regulation.

Koster expressed appreciation for the enthusiasm of the community in supporting the movement to reduce the generation of plastic waste once. He added, this movement is the implementation of Governor Regulation No. 97 of 2018 concerning the Limitation of Disposable Plastic Waste. More than that, this program is an inseparable part of the effort to preserve and preserve the majesty, sanctity and taksu of Bali which includes sanctuaries, seas, lakes, rivers, springs, mountains, forests, plants and natural environment in a full scale. "This activity is in line with the vision of Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali, which is to maintain the sanctity of Bali's nature and its contents to realize the life of a prosperous Balinese (citizen), happy and physical (spiritual)," he explained.

The majority of Balinese people who are Hindu are supposed to carry out the Vedic teachings well, one of which mandates that the people do not litter. Starting from this, he invites the entire community to change behavior. "Do not throw trash carelessly, let's take part in actively educating about the importance of efforts to preserve the environment,"  Koster concluded. ( Balitopnews.com / Amo Bali )
