Impressing Bali, Egyptian Ambassador Meets Governor Koster Invites Tourism Cooperation

Governor Bali  Wayan Koster received a visit from Governor of Damietta Province, Egypt Manal Awad Mikhail who came with Egyptian Ambassador to Indonesia Ahmed Amr Ahmed Moawad and Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt Helmy Fauzy at the Bali  Governor's Office, Jaya Sabha, Denpasar, Thursday (August 22, 2019 ).

Governor Damietta Manal Awad Mikhail, who took a break in attending the IAID event in Nusa Dua, said She was very impressed with his visit to Bali this time. Some places have been visited by the first female Christian Governor in Egypt, including craft centers, several temples, rice fields and forests in  Ubud area.

"I see some similarities in the technique of making crafts between Egyptians and Balinese," She said. To prove her words, Mikhail invited Governor  Wayan Koster to visit Egypt and take a close look at the country's ancient civilization that is famous throughout the world.

In line with Governor Damietta, Egyptian Ambassador to Indonesia Ahmed Amr Ahmed Moawad said, the Province of Bali has become one of the favorite tourist attractions of Egyptians, especially newlyweds who are on their honeymoon. The ambassador, who has served in Indonesia since 2015, added that relations between Indonesia and Egypt have been established for a long time, where Egypt became the first country to recognize Indonesia's independence.

In particular Moawad praised the policy of the Governor of Bali which was guided by the teachings of Bung Karno. "President Soekarno was close friends with President Gamal Abdul Nasir in initiating the Asia-Africa Conference in Bandung," Moawad said.

However, he continued, the closeness between Indonesia and Africa has only been re-established lately. He hoped that Egypt could be the entrance of Indonesia to a number of other countries in Africa

Related to Bali, Moawad said he saw rapid progress so far, especially in the field of tourism. Therefore, he hopes in the future can establish cooperation between the Province of Bali with Sharm el-Sheikh, a city that is a center for tourism in Egypt.

Bali Governor Wayan Koster expressed his respect for being visited by state guests. He said, the initial period of his leadership focus on structuring sustainable development of Bali by paying attention to nature, human and cultural preservation which are important assets of Bali tourism.

"Through the vision of Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali, we want to really reorganize so that Bali is strong in accordance with the principles of Bung Karno's Trisakti," Koster said.

In connection with that, said the former member of the House of Representatives of the three periods, in recent times he has not had plans to go on an overseas trip. "I have absolutely no plans to go abroad as I still have to complete the foundation of Bali's development going forward," Koster added..
