Balitopnews.com, DENPASAR - The Governor of Bali signed a memorandum of understanding to provide export product port service incentives from Bali to increase activities and logistics efficiency in sea transportation at Benoa port on Friday (February 28, 2020) The signing of a memorandum of agreement with PT Pelindo III also included the release of container packaging logistics from Benoa port to Surabaya.

Governor of Bali  Wayan Koster said, this policy is a new innovation in the field of transportation in order to build integrated sea, land and air infrastructure. At present, transportation is dominant over land, especially for logistics transportation. This certainly causes traffic congestion, especially the Denpasar-Gilimanuk route because most of the logistics is imported from Java. Trucks with heavy loads make the road quickly damaged and can cause traffic accidents. "Innovation of logistics transportation by sea is a very appropriate choice. I support this because it can reduce traffic congestion and traffic accidents, as well as being efficient in financing," Koster said.

Meanwhile, PT Pelindo III's Director of Operations and Commercial, Putut Sri Muljanto said that container cargo from the port is difficult to grow because it competes with land transportation. For this reason, cooperation between various parties, from ports, cargo, customs and shipping, is needed. "We cannot work alone but together. How do ports collaborate to improve sea transportation. So we provide incentives", he said.

Putut Sri Muljanto added, this incentive was not only in the Benoa port, but also in the ports in Surabaya, which totaled 31 percent, for loading and unloading costs in Benoa and Surabaya. On that occasion, Governor of Bali  Wayan Koster also released logistics containers from the Benoa port to Surabaya, which was marked by siren pressure. (Balitopnews.com/gix)
