DENPASAR, Balitopnews.com -

The efforts of Bali Governor Wayan Koster to create a clean and pollution-free Balinese environment in accordance with the vision of Nangun Sad Kerthi Loka Bali continues to receive support from various parties. Most recently, Bali has received priority for a trial of environmentally friendly public transportation in the form of electric buses.

The electric bus trial launch is planned for Friday, November 6, 2020. This plan was conveyed by the President Director of the Djakarta Passenger Transport Corporation (PPD) Pande Putu Yasa during an audience with Governor of Bali Wayan Koster at the Bali Governor's Office, Jaya Sabha, Wednesday, November 4, 2020.

The trial launch of this electric bus will be carried out in conjunction with the launch of the National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN) tourist transportation in Bali

Wayan Koster welcomed the planned trial for electric buses in Bali. The governor said that the use of electric buses is in accordance with the policies of the Bali Provincial Government (Pemprov) which have been stated in the Bali Governor Regulation Number 45 of 2019 concerning Bali Clean Energy and Bali Governor Regulation Number 48 of 2019 concerning the Use of Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicles.

"Bali already has electric vehicle regulations and even the first in Indonesia," Koster said.

He added that with the increasing population and narrower land, the community had to start shifting to public transportation.

"It can't go on like this (using private vehicles, red). The public must be given an understanding of the importance of using public transportation," he said.

Apart from being environmentally friendly, the Governor hopes that public transportation can provide a sense of security and comfort to passengers and provide jobs for local people.

Director of Perum PPD, Pande Putu Yasa, as the operator, said the trial of electric buses in Bali will begin with two fleet units. He hopes that this trial will be successful so that next year Bali can propose an additional electric bus fleet to the central government.

Meanwhile, for KSPN transportation in Bali, 12 fleets are prepared to serve five routes. KSPN buses in Bali will use the Tridatu color as a form of local wisdom and the drivers are prioritized for local people.

Apart from reporting on the planned launch of the KSPN transport and electric bus trials, Perum PPD is also exploring cooperation efforts with Perusda Bali in managing public transportation in Bali more professionally.

Appeared at the meeting, the Head of the Bali Provincial Transportation Office I Gde Wayan Samsi Gunarta and the Bali Regional Representative Office. (Gix)
