DENPASAR, Balitopnews.com - Governor of Bali Wayan Koster officially released the first flight of the Garuda Indonesia airline for the Denpasar - Hong Kong cargo route at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Denpasar, Saturday morning (November 7, 2020) .
This first flight carried 30 tonnes of cargo consisting of fishery commodities and other agricultural products from Bali.
Wayan Koster appreciated and welcomed Bali's local commodity exports amidst the tourism industry conditions that have not returned to normal due to the Covid-19 pandemic
"With the shorter travel time, the greater the opportunity for local commodities, especially fishery and local Balinese agricultural products to be absorbed in the export market," Koster said.
The addition of export cargo services is in line with the direction of the Governor of Bali in developing food in quantity and quality that not only meets the needs of Balinese krama but is also export-oriented.
The Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, hopes that this additional cargo flight service will increase the enthusiasm for MSME production and improve the diversification of Bali's export products so that the people's economy can grow in a quality and resilient manner.
Therefore, the Chairperson of DPD PDIP Bali Province wants this service to be further developed and easily accessible by MSME players and Bali exports.
Special cargo flights for the Denpasar - Hong Kong route are served once a week with a fleet of Airbus A330-300 which has a carrying capacity of 30-40 tons on each flight. The special Denpasar - Hong Kong cargo route departs from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Denpasar at 07.00 WITA and arrives in Hong Kong at 12.00 local time.
In a press release, Garuda Indonesia President Director Irfaniaputra said that special cargo route flights are one of the business opportunities that Garuda Indonesia will sustainably strengthen in line with the growing trend of cargo transportation needs. "With the development of this cargo flight network, we hope that the direct export activities of Small and Medium Enterprises (UKM) in the fields of fisheries, local plantations and animal husbandry as well as other superior commodities from the Bali and surrounding areas can be more competitive, so that they can support efforts to accelerate national economic recovery. , "He said.
He added that the realization of special cargo flights in Bali is a joint initiative between Garuda Indonesia and the Governor of Bali to support increasing the competitiveness of Balinese products by reducing travel time.
