BANGLI, Balitopnews.com - The head of the PKK Bali Province, Mrs. Putri Koster, hopes that in the future all hospital walls in Bali can be filled with works of art. This is because he believes that it can speed up the recovery of patients, both patients with physical and psychological pain.

 

She conveyed this when he opened the Balinese Young Artists Painting Exhibition with the theme 'Art in the Middle of a Pandemic' which was also a series of National Health Day Commemoration, at the Bali Provincial Hospital, Bangli, Thursday (November 12, 2020) 

 

"Of course, paintings that provide comfort and serenity for the patients can speed up the recovery of the patient's pain," She explained to the media crew during the interview.

 

According to her, with the beautiful and reassuring scenery emitted by the artwork, it can make the patient feel comfortable and at the same time increase the body's immune system so that he can quickly recover. So that in the future, the hospital should be a place to display works of art as well as treat patients and medical personnel there.

 

"In the future, I hope that not only the Bali Provincial Hospital will implement it, but all hospitals throughout Bali," She added at the event which was a collaboration between Ubud Diary and Bali Provincial Hospital.


 

The wife of the governor of Bali is also hopeful

 that Balinese artists can participate in displaying art works in hospitals, as well as collaborating with patients if someone is interested. "With this step, I dream that in the future I would like to introduce if the artists on the Island of the Gods also have a role in accelerating the health of patients," She explained.

 

Moreover, she continued, the Covid-19 pandemic has taught us to return to our identity, back to our human needs. “Covid-19 teaches us to Nangun Sat Kerthi, return to who we are, return to our needs. Apart from physical clothing, food, shelter, spiritual health is also a basic need for us as humans. And making art is one way of our spiritual health, "she explained.

 

On this occasion, she did not forget to convey her deep appreciation to the artists involved in this exhibition. She expressed his gratitude for the contributions of the artists in filling the hospital hallways with their works. Because, indirectly the artists have helped accelerate the patient's recovery.


 

"I am sure that your sincere feelings are limitless. Because an original artist is definitely rich in heart, not rich in material, " She concluded.

 

While previously the Director of the Bali Provincial Hospital, Dr. I Dewa Gede Basudewa SpKJ, stated that this exhibition was not only for displaying works of art, but also as an effort to treat mental health and rehabilitation of patients with mental illnesses.

 

 In line with Mrs. Putri Koster, she admits that works of art also affect a person's soul. "The art of providing calm and peace, it is needed by our patients," he explained.

 

He said that this exhibition was a collaboration between young Balinese artists and the Bali provincial RSJ patients, both who were in rehabilitation and who had returned to society. “We found that many of our patients are very talented and their works are displayed here. And this is also a therapist for them, "he added.

 

Furthermore, he said, this exhibition also aims to foster self-confidence in patients and eradicate the negative stigma that society has on them. "We want to show that mental patients can also work, and they can recover and return to society. For that we would like to thank the artists who were willing to help build their self-confidence.
