As Keynote Speaker for Interactive Dialogue at RRI Singaraja, The Chairperson of The TP PKK Bali Province Efforts to Reduce Stunting Zero Cases

SINGARAJA,Balitopnews.com – The Chairperson of the TP PKK  Bali Province Mrs Putri Koster was a resource person in the Interactive Dialogue with the theme 'Prevent Stunting Through Parenting' taking place at RRI Singaraja, Monday (Soma Pon Matal) August 15, 2022.

Following her direction, Mrs. Putri Koster said that stunting prevention is very important considering stunting has an impact on the physical and mental health of the nation's next golden generation in the future. Although the stunting rate in Bali Province is relatively low compared to the national average, prevention efforts must continue to be carried out so that the stunting rate can continue to be suppressed and even reach zero cases.

Furthermore, she said that the causes of stunting are many factors, including nutrition, education, poverty, including parenting. Regarding parenting in the family, she again reminded the importance of the participation of all family members in parenting, especially in the 1000 days of child growth and development. Parenting patterns that are mutually honing, compassionate and nurturing are applied in the family in addition to fulfilling the needs for nutrition, education, communication and healthy sanitation in the family environment and the surrounding environment

Mrs Putri Koster also reminded the importance of attention to nutrition and health of young women who will later become prospective mothers who will conceive, give birth and care for their children who are the nation's generation in the future. Moreover, in 2045 Indonesia will get a demographic bonus so that the generation born now will become the nation's leaders in the future. "Thus we don't let our guard down, we take care of the diet, lifestyle and upbringing of our young women, young women are reminded how to maintain a healthy body, get enough rest, and eat nutritious food so that they don't experience chronic energy deficiency or acute anemia," Putri Koster said.

At the end of her direction, Mrs. Putri Koster asked all PKK cadres to move to make efforts to prevent stunting both through socialization and education so that awareness grows in the community to work together, synergize in efforts to maintain their health starting from the health of themselves and their families so that healthy family members will be realized, honed his intelligence, efficient, noble and virtuous character so that my son is healthy, my nation is strong.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bali Province BKKBN Representative, Dr. Ni Luh Gede Sukardiasih, M.For., M.A.R.S who was also present in the interactive dialogue this afternoon said why stunting should be prevented because stunting hinders the development of quality human resources to create a golden generation. Stunting is not a disease but a condition of impaired development of children's growth, especially in the 10000 days of growth, which is caused by a lack of nutritional intake that can interfere with brain and physical growth so that complaints arise that children will be shorter than their age friends, sickly, intelligence decreases so productivity also increases. decrease. In addition, editing can also be caused by other factors such as parenting, poor sanitation, an unhealthy environment so that children get sick, repeated infections and premature birth.

The BKKBN has carried out various stunting prevention efforts from upstream, including reproductive health counseling, giving blood-boosting vitamins and screening prospective brides, where prospective brides are required to have a health screening 3 months before marriage to check the nutritional status and HB of young female brides. This is done to ensure that every bride-to-be is in ideal condition to get married and get pregnant. BKKBN itself has launched the Electronic Application for Marriage and Pregnancy (ELSIMIL). ELSIMIL is a screening and mentoring application for prospective brides (Catin). Each Catin couple will receive assistance from the Family Assistance Team (TPK) located in the same Village/Kelurahan as Catin's domicile area. The purpose of the ELSIMIL application is to carry out early detection of Catin's health to mitigate the risk of giving birth to stunting babies.

Stunting prevention efforts must be carried out with the synergy of all components of society involving multi-stakeholders, be it the government, academics, media, and the PKK Mobilization Team which is the Government's partner who has the mandate and responsibility to actively participate in accelerating the reduction of stunting.
