DENPASAR, Balitopnews.com - Proposal from the Acting Governor of Bali, S.M. Mahendra Jaya to provide discount vouchers at tourist destinations for foreign tourists who have paid the foreign tourist levy (Tourism Levy) at a meeting at the Bali Governor's Office, Tuesday ( February 6, 2024) was confirmed by the Head of the Tourism Service, Tjok Bagus Pemayun.

However, he emphasized that time, mechanisms and further discussions, especially with tourism actors, are needed to make this happen. This was conveyed by a bureaucrat from Gianyar, Saturday ( February 10, 2024) This is in response to the circulation of news regarding discount vouchers that pay foreign tourist fees. Pemayun confirmed that currently there has been no provision of these vouchers because this proposal has only been raised for the first time. "As stated by Mr Acting. Governor, this proposal is to stimulate the enthusiasm and interest of foreign tourists to pay the Tourism Levy. However, it still needs to be discussed and finalized further on how best it can be done. Of course, by involving tourism actors who manage tourist destinations,"  Pemayun said.

Previously The Acting. Governor of Bali, S.M. Mahendra Jaya while attending a meeting regarding levies for foreign tourists together with the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, Bali Provincial Communication, Informatics and Statistics Service, Bali Provincial Revenue Agency and the Legal Bureau of the Bali Provincial Secretariat on Tuesday (6 February 2024) in the Meeting Room of the Bali Governor's Office We hope that in the future Tourism Levy can collaborate with tourist destinations in Bali in the form of discount vouchers for foreign tourists who have made Tourism Levy payments. According to him, this can stimulate the enthusiasm and interest of foreign tourists to pay the Tourism Levy. Because besides having a part in efforts to preserve Bali's culture and nature, they also get direct benefits in the form of discount vouchers at leading destinations in Bali. Likewise, tourist destinations, whether natural, cultural or artificial tourist destinations that collaborate with Tourism Levy, will benefit because they can increase the number of tourist visits, especially foreign tourists, to these destinations. He believes this can be a good symbiotic mutualism between the regional government and the Bali tourism industry. However, of course the implementation requires time and further mechanisms between the Bali Provincial Government and the tourism industries in Bali. It is necessary to coordinate together the mechanisms so that this policy can run well and provide benefits for Bali tourism, industry and the Balinese people.

Apart from that, the most important thing is how tourists can pay the Tourism Levy without feeling burdened. For this reason, Mahendra Jaya always emphasizes continuing to socialize the purpose of imposing levies on foreign tourists. (Rls/Btnc)
