Tanah Ampo Pier Continues, Governor of Koster Hopes 70 Percent of Results For Karangasem

The fate of the continuation of the construction of the Tanah Ampo pier project in Karangasem, which had been in a state of flurry for a long time, finally began to meet with a bright spot. Namely with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Transportation, the Provincial Government of Bali and Karangasem Regency related to the Construction of the Ampo Harbor, Tuesday (27/8) at Wiswa Sabha Pratama Office of the Governor of Bali, Denpasar.
According to Governor Koster that the continuation of the construction of an international standard pier in the eastern tip of the island of Bali is as a serious commitment of his government to realize the vision of developing integrated infrastructure of land, sea and air.
"Tanah Ampo pier, which I have not finished in a long time, is important in order to integrate infrastructure in Bali. There has been a green light from Mr. President (Joko Widodo), Mr. Minister has also seen firsthand. For that reason, now the stages must be completed so that as soon as possible the progress of this project can be seen, "said the governor who was born in Sembiran, Buleleng Regency.
Koster hopes that the continued development of the international pier in the Tanah Ampo area will have an impact on the growth and improvement of the economic welfare of the Karangasem community.
"We in the Province do not ask for much, so that Karangasem Regency will enjoy more of the results, up to 70 percent does not matter if it is operational later. Because our task is also in the Province to help improve the economy in areas such as Karangasem," he explained.
But the Governor who is also the Chairman DPD PDIP Bali reminded that in the future the management of the pier which is intended as one of the supporting infrastructures for Bali tourism is done professionally.
"So far there is an assumption that we can build only, and cannot maintain. That opinion must be removed, properly managed, professionally so that it can truly benefit the wider community, especially in Karangasem," Koster added.
Furthermore, related to the pier construction system that will accommodate cruise ships or cruise ships from around the world, this will use a pattern of cooperation between the central, regional and private governments. "I see the design is very good," said the former member of the House of Representatives Republic of Indonesia for three periods.
Meanwhile the Director General of Sea Relations (Dirjen Hubla) Kemenhub Agus Purnomo revealed that the progress of the construction of the Tanah Ampo Pier had proceeded according to stages and plans. According to him, Kemenhub will give full support to this project. "This MoU is an important initial step for the next stage. I am grateful that in Bali everyone is excited to realize this pier, and of course it will be very easy in the future," said Purnomo.
Whereas for the initial stage of construction this year, according to him, it will begin by perfecting the pier as a place for large vessels to rely on. "Furthermore, it will only be continued with the construction of terminals and other supporting facilities, especially to support the local tourism industry," Purnomo explained.
On the same occasion, The Regent of Karangasem IGA Mas Sumatri expressed her gratitude for the rapid progress in the completion of the Tamah Ampo pier.
