Chairperson of the Bali Provincial National Crafts Council (Dekranasda) Mrs Putri Suastini Koster invites the public, especially the millennial generation, to revive the fashion industry with the theme of Balinese culture and art, as a step to face the challenges of globalization which further undermine the local culture.

This was conveyed by Mrs. Putri Koster when she was a guest speaker at a seminar titled 'Millennial Tourism in Facing Opportunities and Challenges', at The Trans Resort Bali, Badung, Saturday (31 August 2019).

Mrs. Putri Koster continued, the younger generation as the development generation must be sensitive to see the current condition of Bali. Many challenges must be faced and a solution sought, because if left unchecked it will eliminate the Balinese culture which is the great heritage of the ancestors. "One way to deal with this challenge, if in the world of fashion is to bring up various design modes with Balinese ornaments, such as the forms of flora, fauna and other nuances of Balinese culture," She said.

This woman who is known as a multitalented artist, said that in the 80s, many Balinese designers gave rise to fashion designs titled Balinese art and culture, even to the point of going international. "For that reason, we should encourage again and come up with Balinese designs, which of course also adjust to the current reforms," She added.

In addition, Mrs. Putri Koster hopes that the implementation of various fashion events and exhibitions organized by the government or the private sector will be able to spur the creation of young Balinese designers to create a variety of quality design works that have national and international competitiveness. The various design works, of course, still prioritize Balinese local wisdom like endek fabric. "I hope our young designers can create designs based on endek in order to go national and even international," She said.

For this reason, She hopes that in the future this seminar can provide input and enthusiasm for the younger generation or the private sector, to increasingly stimulate the advancement of fashion production centers from Bali so that the market is expanding to the outside, such as the booming era of the 80s. .

In the event which was attended by 200 participants coming from business people, students and related business actors, also presented material presentation by several other speakers, including Chairman of the Bali Tourism Community Alliance Gusti Kade Sutawa, Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office I Putu Astawa, Kadin Advisory Board Member Panudiana Kuhn, Chair of the National Economic and Industry Committee Sutrisno Bahar and Chair of the Kadin Bali Made Ariandi SH.
