Governor Bali Wayan Koster Attends International Conference on Financial Governance

Governor  Bali Wayan Koster accompanied by Bali Provincial Secretary Dewa Made Indra attended an international conference on governance and accountability of state finances to encourage sustainable development held by the Indonesian Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) on Thursday (10 October 2019)

The international conference which was held in the Meeting Hall of the BPK RI Representative Office of the Province of Bali was concluded with the signing of the inscription as a form of inauguration of the BPK RI State Audit Board of Education and Training which is located in Gianyar Regency, Bali.

Interviewed after the opening ceremony and signing of the inscription, the Governor who also served as Chairman of the DPD PDIP Bali Province appreciated the existence of the PKN Training Center. According to him, this is a good step to improve the quality of human resources, especially in the ranks of financial audit institutions. "It is very good for the progress of the quality of human resources," he said briefly.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the BPK RI Moermahadi Soerja Djanegara in his remarks said that this conference was a forum to share knowledge and experiences on sustainable development issues for stakeholders.

Moreover, this activity also serves as a facilitation forum for the development of knowledge in the field of managing state finances to encourage the involvement of stakeholders in efforts to achieve sustainable development. "This conference is a form of BPK RI's contribution to encourage sustainable development through inspection," he said.

Moermahadi added, since 2016, BPK RI has joined the INTOSAI Knoledge Sharing Committee (KSC) and INTOSAI Development Intiative (IDI) in the capacity building program for examining sustainable development goals.

On that occasion, Moermahadi also alluded to the existence of the BPK RI PKN Training Center. According to him, the existence of this training center is a form of BPK RI's commitment in accordance with BPK RI's mandate and vision for the development of human resources in overseeing the management of state finances.

The conference involved auditors (auditors), researchers, local government representatives, professional associations of IAI, IIA, IAPI, ISACA, CPA Australia. While featured speakers included Deputy of Maritime Affairs and Natural Resources Bappenas Arifin Rudiyanti, Dean of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, University of Indonesia Eko Prasojo, Jane Meade from Group Executive Director in the Professional Services and Relationships Group oh The Australian National Office and Attorney VI Commission on Audit of the Republic of the Philippines Javien D. Ompoc.

In his presentation, the speakers discussed their respective roles as governments, academics and examining institutions in supporting governance and accountability to realize sustainable development.

The opening of the conference was marked by the beating of the gong by the Chairman of the BPK RI accompanied by the Governor of Bali Wayan Koster. (Balitopnews.com/MD/Amo Bali)
