DENPASAR, Balitopnews.com - Governor of Bali Wayan Koster delivered a speech at the 2020 Local Food Diversification and Exposure Movement event in Bali Province, which took place at the Bali Provincial Agriculture and Food Security Office, Wednesday, August 19, 2020.

Starting his direction, Governor Koster expressed his appreciation for this movement which is very suitable and in line with the vision of the Bali Provincial Government Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali, where the food sector is one of the 5 priority field programs. The five priority areas include development patterned and integrated throughout Bali and development developed in accordance with the potential of each district / city.

Governor Koster emphasized that food availability in Bali can not only meet people's food needs but also quality, so that serious policies in the agricultural sector from upstream to downstream are needed.

In addition, the variety of food also needs to be developed in accordance with the natural conditions of each region so as to produce quality food. What is suitable to be planted according to regional conditions, the food becomes the consumption of the community.

Governor Koster who is also the Chairperson of the Bali Province PDIP DPD also encourages the use of local food whose availability is quite abundant. Thus, the people's economy will move from local agricultural products, especially local Balinese food products that are not inferior in quality to food from outside

In the future, the market for local food distribution also needs to continue to be developed, including how local food can be maximally absorbed in hotels and restaurants, so that agricultural products can be used as tourism products and will later improve the welfare of farmers.

Governor Koster who was accompanied by the Regional Secretary of Bali Province Dewa Made Indra also asked for education to the public about the importance of food diversification and escalating food MSMEs in order to develop their business. Thus, in time it will reduce dependence on rice consumption and increase local food consumption of other carbohydrate sources.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bali Province Agriculture and Food Security Agency Ida Bagus Wisnuardhana in his report stated that the objectives of the activities this morning included anticipating the global food crisis and the threat of drought, providing alternative food sources of local non-rice carbohydrates and stimulating the community's economy.

The activity, which was held for one day, was attended by Farmer Women Groups (KWT) from each regency / city in Bali. In this activity, a menu was also held in the form of processed non-rice food from local ingredients. (Gix)
