BADUNG, Balitopnews.com - The opening of Bali tourism for domestic or domestic tourists on July 31, 2020, has proven to be able to encourage an increase in the number of visits to a number of tourist objects on the Island of the Gods. This also shows signs of recovery for Bali tourism.

This was expressed by  Governor of Bali Wayan Koster accompanied by Vice Governor Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati (Cok Ace) while attending the launch of the New Era Balinese Kecak Dance and the Launch of the QRIS-Based Payment System Digitalization Program in Uluwatu, Badung, Saturday, August 22, 2020.

"Actually, after we opened (tourism for Indonesian tourists, red) starting on July 31, there are already signs of improvement or restoration of our tourism," Koster said.

According to him, this is shown by the increasing number of flights to the Island of the Gods every day through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport as one of the entrances to Bali.

Prior to July 31, he continued, Garuda Indonesia planes bound for Bali only flew twice a day. The number of passengers transported is only around a thousand people per day.

"After opening on July 31, Garuda Indonesia flights to Bali reach five times a day. Even if it is calculated, all airlines flying to Bali have reached 35 flights per day, ”Koster added.

The number of passengers also increased by more than two thousand people per day. Even Governor Koster noted that in the last four days as many as 5 five thousand passengers per day arrived in Bali via Ngurah Rai Airport. This does not include domestic tourists entering Bali via land routes, which have also increased in number.

"We are starting to see its stretching in a number of tourist objects. In Kuta it has increased a little, then Tanah Lot, Ubud, Sanur and Kintamani have also started to increase, " Koster said.

Furthermore, regarding the recovery of the condition of tourism in Bali as before, according to him, it really depends on the management of handling the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, the Governor asked the public to be consciously disciplined and committed to implementing health protocols and government policies.

The goal is that tourists feel comfortable during their visit and stay in Bali which is in the green zone. "Because of that I really hope we all commit to carry out this (New Era Life Order, red) in an orderly manner,"  He asked.

For this reason, the Governor then asked all parties not to be influenced by calls from anyone not to comply with health protocols. Because according to the Governor, if the opening of the stage for Indonesian tourists does not go well, then Bali tourism will again experience a setback.

If carried out well and smoothly, the governor is optimistic that the economic contraction in the third quarter can be reduced. "Astungkara in the fourth quarter is getting better. If possible, it will be close to zero, so that by 2021, we will have reached a positive growth rate. This is of course our common hope, "he said.

Also attending were the Head of Bank Indonesia (BI) Bali Province Representative Trisno Nugroho, Vice Regent of Badung I Ketut Suiasa, Chairman of the Badung DPRD I Putu Parwata, President Director of BPD Bali I Nyoman Sudharma and tourism stakeholders in Uluwatu. (Gix)
