DENPASAR, Balitopnews.com - The Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster said that tourism would not be shunned in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, but must be balanced with the partanian sector to strengthen the Balinese economy.

"We will change the structure and fundamentals of Bali so that it no longer relies on tourism. So far, 53 percent of Bali's economy has been supported by tourism. As a result, when problems like this occur (pandemic) we face difficulties," he explained, Tuesday, August 25, 2020.

Koster said that this does not mean that tourism is shunned. But it will still be made a priority but must also be balanced with other sectors to strengthen the economy of Bali.

"What I see is that Bali's economy must be supported in addition to tourism, which is agriculture. Agriculture in a broad sense. Also the food industry, clothing, which is related to people's handicrafts. So these three components will be the main elements in building our economy going forward," he added.

According to Koster, this program is short term and long term. For the short term, the use of local products is now being turned on through the Balinese mutual cooperation market program.

"This really helps our farmers because during this pandemic they find it difficult to sell, now they are starting to be able to sell even though it is not optimal. If tourism has recovered, we will encourage hotels and restaurants to use local products such as agriculture, fisheries and handicrafts," he concluded. (Gix)
