BADUNG, Balitopnews.com - Governor of Bali Wayan Koster received Indonesian Innovation Bakti products for the Bali Province by the Minister of Research and Technology (Menristek) RI as well as the Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Bambang Brodjonegoro at the Nusantara Ballroom, The Westin Resort, Nusa Dua , Tuesday (December 22, 2020). The handover was held after the Innovation Village Workshop event entitled "Community Service for Bali Innovation Against Bali".

 

Governor Koster expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the superior for the event. As a province that relies on and relies on Regional Original Income (PAD) in the tourism sector, Bali is the most affected area economically due to the Covid - 19 pandemic. So that with the flurry of innovations from the central government, it is hoped that it will be able to spur the Balinese economy.

 

"In terms of the theme alone, I have very sympathy, concern for Bali, which is heavily affected by the Covid-19 outbreak, especially tourism, which is the main source of Bali's economy. When the normal situation of tourism is normal, Bali's economy lives even above the national average. When there is a disturbance - disturbances like today, Bali's economy is weakening, that's the joy and sorrow. In the future, I hope the central government will continue to support the recovery of Bali, just like the current innovations, " Governor Koster asked while telling flashbacks of Bali tourism in facing obstacles such as the Bali Bomb explosion, the SARS virus pandemic, to the eruption of Mount Agung, which Bali recovered quickly because foreign tourists were still visiting. Meanwhile, facing the global Covid-19 pandemic around the world, it is feared that tourism will take a long time. So that new innovative policies are needed for other sectors.


 

Before the pandemic hit, Governor Koster, since his election, has developed policies to build the image of Bali tourism in the eyes of international tourists, such as reducing the use of single-use plastics to reducing plastic waste piles by inviting all components of society to come directly clean the environment regularly, develop new energy uses. and renewables that are environmentally friendly, safeguarding and conserving water and marine sources, and so on. These programs have also been able to raise the name of Bali, as evidenced by the many appreciations conveyed by the country's ambassadors, even the level of tourist visits has increased by 26% at the beginning to the end of 2019 compared to the previous year.

 

"Constrained by this pandemic, the programs that we have compiled cannot be realized in 2020. So now we are focused on handling the pandemic," Governor explained who previously served as a member of the Indonesian Parliament while stating that he had taken steps to restore Bali tourism by opening tourist faucets. domestic since last July, but still have to implement strict health protocols in an effort to prevent the spread of the pandemic. Indeed, it cannot be instantaneous, but it must be done immediately, we will immediately form a working group to design and make it happen," he concluded, who was also accompanied by the Head of the Research and Development Agency. Meanwhile, the Minister of Research and Technology / National Agency for Research and Innovation of the Republic of Indonesia Bambang Brodjonegoro gave a presentation and held a focus group discussion with the theme "Structure and Fundamentals of the Balinese Economy in the Tourism, Agriculture, Maritime and Industrial Sector" together with Bapenas / PPN First Secretary Himawan Hariyoga Djojokusumo.
