This was conveyed by the Vice Governor of Bali after carrying out a visit to the Bali Province AIDS Commission (KPA) Office on Jalan Melati, Denpasar, Wednesday (December 1, 2021).

 

The Vice Governor of Bali accompanied by the Head of the Bali Provincial Health Office, Ketut Suarjaya, said that in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, it seems that the number of AIDS sufferers has decreased relatively, which indicates the growing awareness in the community to stay away from risk factors for AIDS transmission.

 

"We hope that even though the Covid-19 pandemic will end, the number of AIDS sufferers will also continue to decline," he said.

 

He added that the decline in AIDS cases in the community was not only due to the growing public awareness to avoid risk factors and lead a healthy lifestyle, this was also due to a change in the mindset or stigma of the community towards AIDS sufferers so that the awareness of the infected community to seek treatment was high and those who were vulnerable were at risk. check it out as soon as possible.

 

“Community awareness and understanding of AIDS continues to increase, sufferers are no longer isolated or discriminated against in the community, besides that advances in technology and treatment continue to develop, making people aware of themselves to seek treatment. I hope that in the future AIDS cases will continue to decline along with increasing public awareness,” he added.

 

Meanwhile, Head of the Bali Provincial KPA Secretariat A A Ngurah Patria Nugraha said that in the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic, his party is still conducting socialization related to HIV AIDS in the community, both through webinars and online media. Thus, it is hoped that AIDS cases in Bali Province will continue to decline and public health will improve.(gix)
