Ahead of Christmas and New Year, the Bali Industry and Trade Department is holding market supervision in Klungkung Regency

KLUNGKUNG, Balitopnews.com - Approaching Christmas and New Year, the Bali Province Department of Industry and Trade (Disperindag) carried out monitoring of basic necessities in a number of markets, both traditional and modern markets in Klungkung Regency on Wednesday (December 13, 2023).

Head of the Consumer Protection and Orderly Business Division, Bali Province Disperindag, Mrs. Paramita Adnyana, SE said that the supervision carried out ahead of Christmas was routinely carried out in order to provide protection to consumers in consuming goods and to anticipate the distribution of goods that did not comply with the regulations in force ahead of religious holidays. He added that this activity is also a form of government concern for consumer protection in accordance with Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection, Law Number 7 of 2014 concerning Trade, Regulation of the Minister of Trade Number 69 of 2018 concerning Supervision of Circulating Goods and Services, and Minister of Trade Regulation No. 36 of 2018 concerning Implementation of Supervision of Trading Activities.

"This is a routine activity that we carry out every year before Christmas to monitor products circulating on the market. The target of our supervision is mainly on product labels because the labels contain information on all products such as product name, manufacturer's name and address, ingredient composition, place and date of production up to the product's expiry date. "Apart from that, we also monitor the packaging of the product so that there are no defects," he added. Paramita added that from the results of market monitoring, both in traditional and modern markets, there were no violations found in the circulation of products from expiry dates or from their packaging, especially products packaged in parcels or on shop display shelves. "Similarly, in traditional markets, regarding basic necessities ahead of Christmas, there were no problems in terms of distribution or stock, everything was still safe, smooth and under control. "We will continue to provide education and outreach to business actors so that every time they carry out trading activities they follow the applicable regulations," he said. Market surveillance in Klungkung Regency targets the Galiran Traditional Market, Clandys Modern Shop, and the "UD Varia" basic food shop. On this occasion, the Bali Province Disperindag team in synergy with the Klungkung Regency Disperindag Team went directly to inspect the products on display and packaged in parcel form and had direct dialogue with business actors regarding the distribution and availability of supplies of basic necessities.
