Regional Secretary of Bali Province Dewa Indra Wants to Use Technology to Support Sustainable Tourism

BADUNG, Balitopnews.com - The widespread use of technology in many aspects in various countries makes life easier and encourages many innovations. However, the rapid development of technology must be used wisely and still adhere to the concept of sustainability, especially in the development of the tourism sector. This was conveyed by the Regional Secretary of Bali Province, Dewa Made Indra, in his remarks at the opening of the 2024 Asia Pacific Tourism, Hospitality Summit & Digital Brand Award at Pecatu Hall BNDCC Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, Thursday (January 11, 2024).

Regional Secretary Dewa Indra's presentation was related to three big issues discussed at the Asia Pacific Tourism, Hospitality Summit & Digital Brand Award 2024, namely tourism technology, tourism investment and sustainable tourism. He further explained that the rapid development of the tourism industry, which is marked by an increase in the number of tourist visits, both domestic and foreign, is a challenge for Bali in its efforts to protect culture and preserve the environment. In facing these challenges, the Balinese people adhere to a philosophy called Tri Hita Karana. He believes that local wisdom, which is still firmly held by the Balinese people, is very helpful in efforts to protect cultural and environmental sustainability. As explained by him, Tri Hita Karana are three elements that are able to create happiness, harmony and balance in life. These three elements include harmonious relationships between humans and God (Parahyangan), humans and each other (Pawongan) and humans and the environment (Pabelasan). “This is the philosophy that guides the life of the Balinese people. "That's why, anyone who goes to Bali will feel a calming and happy vibe," he said.

Still in his speech, Dewa Indra welcomed the meeting participants to the Island of the Gods. He also expressed his thanks to the organizers for choosing Bali as the host. According to him, this will be a very useful promotional media for the Bali Region. "This proves that Bali is not only suitable as a tourist destination, but also as a place for meetings and business," he said, hoping that the vibrations of Bali would inspire the participants to actively contribute to the meeting so that this forum produces things that are beneficial for the progress of the tourism sector. Concluding his remarks, Regional Secretary Dewa Indra invited the participants to take time to visit tourist attractions in Bali between meetings.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, in his presentation touched on indicators for the future of tourism which are closely related to a sustainable lifestyle. These indicators include responsible consumption, sustainable planning, sustainable mobility, recycling and reducing the use of plastic, food security and environmentally friendly generation. For this reason, the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has launched many initiative programs such as guidelines for managing plastic waste at marine tourism objects, providing certificates for tourist destinations and tourist villages, implementing the use of renewable energy sources, giving awards to tourist villages and other programs to realize the concept of sustainable tourism. For your information, the 2024 Asia Pacific Tourism, Hospitality Summit & Digital Brand Award which was opened by Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno is the first activity held in collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and Enhaiier Corporation.

President Director Enhaiier Irmansjah Madewa in his report said that this activity discussed three big issues, namely tourism technology, tourism investment and tourism sustainability. "Technology and investment must be able to synergize with nature so that nature is preserved as one of the most important assets in the tourism sector," he said.

He added that this two-day event was filled with several activities such as open booths, table tops, live streaming, flash sales, tourism products, dinners and award-giving nights. Participants who attended consisted of CEOs, general managers in the tourism and hospitality sector, the intellectual community, academics in the tourism and hospitality sector in Indonesia as well as officials representing various interests in the tourism and hospitality sector.
