The Acting Governor of Bali Visits Cheap Market Ahead of Galungan and Kuningan Holidays

DENPASAR, Balitopnews.com - The Acting Governor of Bali, S.M. Mahendra Jaya was accompanied by the Regional Secretary of Bali Province, Dewa Made Indra, Chair of the Bali Province Dharma Wanita Association (DWP), Mrs. Widiasmini Indra and the Head of Bali Province Regional Apparatus visited the cheap market which was held to control inflation ahead of Galungan and Kuningan Holidays in front of the Bali Governor's Office, Sunday morning (February 25, 2024).

After walking around and shopping at the cheap market,  The Acting Governor of Bali said that ahead of the Galungan and Kuningan holidays there would be an increase in community needs. As a form of concern for the community, the Bali Provincial Government synergized with BPD Bali, Bank Indonesia and other related stakeholders to hold a cheap market. "We hope that this cheap market event can help and ease the burden on the community, especially regarding needs before the holidays such as rice, cooking oil, eggs, fruit and canang," he said.

The Regional Secretary of Bali Province also conveyed the same thing in his interview with media crew, where this cheap market event is one of a series of efforts made by the government to guarantee the supply and distribution of goods to control inflation ahead of the holidays. Furthermore, Regional Secretary Dewa Indra said that in controlling inflation there are four strategies implemented, namely price affordability, adequate supply, smooth distribution and communication. Communication is intended to convince the public that the goods they need are available. "Even though the implementation of this cheap market is small in scale, it is able to convey a message to the public that these goods are available. 3kg LPG gas which is said to be rare, is available in this market, rice is also available. "We are trying to overcome this psychological effect on society, we are assuring the public that these goods are available on the market, so we hope that people do not need to buy goods in excess, just what they need because supplies are safe," he added. Responding to the scarcity of 3 kg LPG gas supply, the Bali Regional Secretary said that his party had coordinated with the relevant agencies and it had been agreed that to anticipate holiday needs, an additional supply of 250 thousand 3 kg LPG gas pellets had been provided plus the stock currently circulating on the market. So our assumption is that this amount is sufficient for the Galungan holiday and beyond so that supplies are safe. The public does not need to worry, the local government will definitely respond quickly when there is a shortage and we assure the public that availability is safe.

Still in his interview session, Dewa Indra also said that the public does not need to worry about the increase in rice prices because in the not too distant future there will be a harvest and the price of rice will definitely fall because the supply will automatically increase. The cause of the current increase in rice is the impact of the harvest season not yet arriving due to the El Nino storm. However, at the end of February and March the harvest season will enter, therefore there will be enough grain/rice production available and prices will fall. To overcome the increase in prices due to the lack of stock due to the El Nino storm, we are dealing with market operations and the public can buy SPHP rice, namely rice distributed by the government through Perum Bulog. This morning's cheap market visit activity began with the launch of the Quick Harvest Food Planting Movement which was marked by the planting of corn seeds by Acting. Governor of Bali, Regional Secretary of Bali, Deputy Head of Bank Indonesia Representative Office for Bali Province, Director of BPD Bali and Head of Regional Apparatus for Bali Province, taking place in the eastern area of the Bali Governor's Office.
