DENPASAR, Balitopnews.com - Bali Province Regional Secretary Dewa Made Indra reminded the existence of Bali Province Regional Regulation Number 9 of 2000 concerning the Prohibition of Raising Kites and Similar Games at Ngurah Rai Airport and the Surrounding Area.

He conveyed this in Denpasar, Friday (July 19,2024) afternoon following information that the helicopter had crashed which was thought to have been caused by being entangled in a kite string.

Dewa Made Indra said in Regional Regulation no. 9 of 2000 Article 2 paragraph 1 states that it is prohibited to raise kites and similar games in areas within a radius of 5 nautical miles or 9 kilometers from the airport. Furthermore, paragraph 2 states that it is prohibited to raise kites and similar games in areas between a radius of 5 nautical miles or 9 kilometers to 10 nautical miles or 18 kilometers with a height exceeding 100 meters or 300 feet. "Paragraph 3 states that it is prohibited to raise kites and similar games in areas between a radius of 10 nautical miles or 18 kilometers to 30 nautical miles or 54 kilometers with a height exceeding 300 meters or 1000 feet. Regional Secretary Dewa Indra invited the Balinese people to obey and follow these regulations for the benefit of the community. He added that the implementation of this regulation must be seen wisely as a step to maintain the safety of flights and air space in Bali. "Especially considering that Bali is a tourism area, it is important for us as a community to maintain the safety and comfort of tourists visiting Bali," he added.
According to him, if this is violated, it will harm all parties, both those raising the kites and the entire Balinese people. "Those who increase it could be subject to criminal penalties, especially if an incident occurs that could be detrimental to all parties," he said again. As for criminal sanctions in accordance with Article 8 (1), it is stated that anyone who violates the provisions in Articles 2 and 6 of this Regional Regulation, is threatened with imprisonment for a maximum of 3 (three) months or a fine of up to Rp. 5,000,000 (five million rupiah).
