DENPASAR, Balitopnews.com - Regional Secretary of Bali Province, Dewa Made Indra, emphasized the importance of neutrality between ASN and non-ASN ahead of the Simultaneous Regional Elections, which will enter the registration and determination phase of prospective candidates at the end of August. "We all have the right to vote, but only to use it on November 27 2024 at the polling station. Apart from that, it's not allowed.
"This is important to understand so that the bureaucracy can carry out public services fairly and fairly," Regional Secretary Dewa Indra said in the Simultaneous Regional Election Neutrality Socialization at Wiswa Sabha Utama, Bali Governor's Office, Wednesday (August 21 2024) afternoon.
Dewa Indra also emphasized that non-neutrality in the Simultaneous Regional Election has the potential to give rise to conflicts of interest which could disrupt public services and harm democracy. "The neutrality of ASN is important to ensure that there is no use of state facilities to support certain election participants. Violations of neutrality will harm democracy and reduce the legitimacy of regional election participants," he stressed.
Regional Secretary Dewa Indra also reminded the importance of keeping your fingers crossed during the Regional Election period, especially with the widespread use of social media. "The candidate pair's programs and goodness will definitely be widely circulated on social media, so I encourage digital literacy. Don't just share anything, just read it first. Don't comment, because digital traces are very easy to trace," he said.
He also appealed to ASN and non-ASN, down to the village and school level, not to get involved in practical politics, such as becoming candidate sympathizers, helping with campaigns, or openly showing support for certain candidates. "The honor of the bureaucracy and the Bali Provincial Government must be maintained. We must remain neutral and contribute to the democratic process," he added.
Chairman of the Bali Province Bawaslu, I Putu Agus Tirta Suguna, appreciated the safe and controlled situation during the 2024 presidential election within the Bali Provincial Government. "Appreciation to ASN, OPD heads and all staff who have succeeded in maintaining the smooth running of the election. Bali is the only region without disputes over election results up to the Constitutional Court," he said.
Suguna hopes that Bali can maintain a conducive situation in the Simultaneous Regional Election and mitigate potential violations of ASN neutrality, especially during the registration and determination of prospective candidates on September 22 2024, as well as the campaign period which starts three days later.
Suguna also reminded about the criminal threat for ASN who are not neutral, in accordance with Article 188 of the Election Law (UU 1/2015 in conjunction with UU 8/2015 in conjunction with UU 10/2016 in conjunction with UU 6/2020), with the threat of imprisonment for a minimum of one month to six month, and/or a fine of IDR 600,000 to IDR 6,000,000.
"Hopefully all ASN and non-ASN in the Bali Provincial Government can protect themselves, their families and their 'fingers', and maintain the dignity of the Bali Provincial Government. Hopefully this will be our guideline together," he concluded.
The socialization of ASN and Non-ASN Neutrality ahead of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections was held online and offline, involving all ASN and non-ASN employees within the Bali Provincial Government. This event began with the reading of the ASN neutrality pledge guided by the Head of the Bali Province Inspectorate, I Wayan Sugiada, and followed by all participants. (Rls/Btnc)
