DENPASAR, Balitopnews.com - The Acting. Governor of Bali, S.M. Mahendra Jaya welcomed the offer of waste management cooperation from Weiming Environment Protection Group, a company that focuses on environmental protection. This offer was led directly by the President of Weiming Environment Protection Group, WuLiang Cheng. At the hearing which took place at Jaya Sabha on Saturday (September  7 2024).

The Acting  Governor of Bali, Sang Made Mahendra Jaya, together with the Heads of relevant Regional Apparatus, explained the various obstacles in handling waste in Bali. One of the main problems is the accumulation of waste at the Suwung Final Disposal Site (TPA), which is a serious concern because Bali hosts various international events. Mahendra Jaya also explained plans to develop Temesi Village in Gianyar as a landfill location which will not only function as a waste processing site, but also as an environmentally friendly tourist destination. Temesi TPA has a fairly large capacity with a capacity of 4 tons of waste per day, so it is hoped that it can help solve the waste problem in Bali.

WuLiang Cheng, who was accompanied by CEO of Weiming Environment Protection Group, ShaoBao Chen; Vice-President Hong Zhao; Legal Counsel ZhongQuan Xiang; and Advanced Investment Manager YiRu Xiang, explained plans for waste processing in Bali. In the initial stage, Weiming will process 1,500 tons of waste per day, and in the second stage it will increase to 750 tons per day, with a total capacity of 2,250 tons per day. The total planned investment reaches USD 225 million, with USD 160 million allocated for the first phase. This project will follow China's AAA standards and become a reference project for waste power plants in Bali. This waste processing project uses a BOO (Build-Operate-Own) model with a franchise term of 40 years. After the franchise period ends, the project assets remain the property of Weiming Environmental Protection. Currently, the population of Bali Province in 2023 will reach 4.404 million people, with the amount of domestic waste produced being 1.229 million tons. Of this amount, 933,500 tons were collected, with a collection rate of approximately 75.95%. Therefore, waste processing technology which includes storage and transportation systems, waste incineration, exhaust gas purification, ash processing, electrical instruments, and automatic control systems is really needed by Bali to deal with waste problems in the future.

The waste incineration technology offered by Weiming produces high-temperature flue gas which is used to produce steam and drive power plants. The exhaust gas is purified and disposed of according to strict environmental standards. At the end of the meeting, Acting Governor of Bali, S.M. Mahendra Jaya received a Letter of Intent (LOI) from the President of Weiming Environment Protection Group, WuLiang Cheng, as the first step in this collaboration. (Rls/Btnc)
