Mesuryak, Unique Tradition in Kuningan Day

Kuningan Day is a series of Galungan Day for Hindus in Bali. Kuningan Day is celebrated ten days after Galungan. Various traditions held during the celebration of Kuningan Day. One tradition that takes place every Kuningan day is mesuryak in Bongan Gede Sub Village, Bongan Village, Tabanan District, Tabanan Regency.
Mesuryak Tradition also held on Kuningan day, Saturday ( September 17,2016 ), the aim of this tradition to deliver the spirit of ancestors return to heaven. "The aims of mesuryak tradition to deliver the ancestral spirits return to heaven. Since Galungan day ancestors were at home. After ten days precisely on Kuningan Day we deliver ancestors back to heaven. We were among joyfully delighted with cheering, throwing money into air contested a lot of people, " said I Ketut Nuraga as Head of Custom Bongan Gede Sub Village. The amount of money used in mesuryak vary depending on the capabilities of their economy. This tradition is no hereditary it still held every six months to coincide with the Kuningan Day. "This tradition has existed since Hinduism in Bali, and we degree every six months," he explained. The amount of money used for mesuryak was not set, depending on the economic level of their respective families.
Mesuryak tradition procession began around 09.00 am until 11.00 am . Beginning with the start of the houses of worship of each resident, then continued in Meraja Temple (Big Family Temple), and Khayangan Tiga Temple. Once the procession is over, transitional mesuryak began. The whole big family hold prayers in merajan (family temple) for safety to Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa, as well as to the ancestors who were in the house since Galungan to Kuningan. Mesuryak then proceed with whatever equipment such ceremonies of offerings and offerings to the front entrance of each house. Furthermore, Hindu Priests or elders chanted closed with mesuryak. Each family leave provisions in the form of coins or paper money. The money thrown into the air and then greeted other citizens. Men women and children scramble to push each other to get the money.
