BaliTopNews - Journalists never die

DENPASAR, Balitopnews.com - Bali Province Regional Secretary Dewa Made Indra together with the Head of Regional Apparatus of the Bali Provincial Government carried out corn harvest in the garden area on the east side of the Governor's Office. The corn harvest activity on Sunday (June 2, 2024) morning was also attended by the Chairperson of the Bali Province Dharma Wanita Association (DWP), Mrs. Widiasmini Indra and Deputy Chief Representative of BI Bali Province Gusti Agung Diah Utari.

Together with the OPD Leader and the DWP Chair, Regional Secretary Dewa Indra seemed enthusiastic about picking dry corn one by one that was ready to harvest. The process of harvesting corn on three acres of land does not take long. The first harvest in the Governor's Office garden produced fairly good quality corn. The seeds planted last Sunday (February  25, 2024) produced no less than 400 kg of dry corn which was immediately distributed to the Manik Lestari Livestock Farmers Group (KTT).

In an interview with media crew, Regional Secretary Dewa Indra said that through this activity the Bali Provincial Government wanted to convey a number of messages to the public. "Together with regional officials, we harvested corn that was planted three months ago. In terms of production volume, what is produced is not much, because the land we cultivate is not large. "But through this activity, we want to convey several messages to the community," he explained. The first message, the Bali Provincial Government gave an example or model of land use for fast-harvesting productive plants that can be consumed. "People who happen to have quite large yards, it would be good to use it for "plant daily necessities such as chilies or tomatoes so that they can help fulfill daily needs," he said. Apart from conveying a message regarding optimizing the use of yard land, this corn harvest activity also carries a message of concern and sharing. "We share all the harvest with livestock farmer groups, so it is really beneficial," he added.

The next message is to invite the public to develop organic agricultural products. He explained that corn planting in the Bali Governor's Office area uses entirely manure. After harvesting the corn, the land will be re-cultivated and then planted with chili seeds.

Chairman of the Manik Lestari Summit, Ngurah Gita, expressed his gratitude for the assistance of dry corn harvested from the garden of the Bali Governor's Office. This hybrid type of dried corn will later be processed into animal feed and distributed to members of the Manik Lestari Summit. According to his observations as a farmer, the quality of corn harvested from land in the Governor's Office area is in the very good category. “The seeds are dense and large in size. "Even though this is just the first planting, I'm sure the next one can be even better," he said.

For your information, the movement to plant corn, chilies and other basic necessities in the Governor's Office area which is attended by all Bali Provincial Government OPD Offices is part of the regional government's participation in maintaining the availability of food supplies to control inflation. The Quick Harvest Food Planting Movement (GENTA PATEN) is also intended to encourage community participation to do the same thing in their own yards. It is hoped that this joint movement can maintain the availability of supplies of basic necessities so that the inflation rate is always controlled. (Rls/Btnc)
