Vice Governor of Bali Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati or Cok Ace, participated in the Adoption and Planting of Coral Reefs centered on Tulamben Beach, Karangasem, on Sunday ( June 6, 2021).

KANGASEM, Balitopnews.com - In commemoration of World Environment Day which is commemorated every June 5, Vice Governor of Bali Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati or Cok Ace, participated in the Adoption and Planting of Coral Reefs centered on Tulamben Beach, Karangasem, on Sunday ( June 6, 2021).

 

Cok Ace expressed his appreciation to the Provincial Board of the All-Indonesian Diving Sports Association (PengProv POSSI) Bali. According to him, this activity is in line with efforts to maintain the sanctity and harmony of Bali's nature in accordance with the Vision of the Bali Provincial Government Program "Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali" through the Planned Universe Development Pattern towards a New Era of Bali, an era marked by an Kawista Bali, an Tata-Titi Bali.  Cok Ace also said that the Coral Reef Adoption and Planting activity initiated by the POSSI Bali Provincial PengProv is one of the momentums in maintaining efforts to preserve coral reef ecosystems, as well as encouraging the marine tourism economy which has been quite affected by the COVID-19 pandemic that has been felt so far.

 

"With the activity with the theme Reimagine, Recreate, Restore, it is hoped that it can be one of the actions to protect the Earth and speak out about an environmentally friendly lifestyle and sustainable use of natural resources," he concluded.

 

Meanwhile, the General Chair of the POSSI Bali PengProv Mayor Laut KH Bagus Partha Wijaya reported that the activity was carried out not only as an effort to preserve the environment but also as support for sport tourism. Considering that diving is not very popular in the province of Bali, he hopes that with the existence of POSSI Bali, Balinese people will be more open to diving and more people are interested in participating in the sport.


 

On this occasion, 200 coral reef seedlings were planted which were obtained from the Archipelago Ornamental Coral Cultivation Group (KPKHN) and the Indonesian Association of Shellfish and Ornamental Fish (AKKII). For that in the future, he hopes that these activities will continue to be sustainable so that underwater coral reefs in Bali become beautiful and become tourist attractions.
